Parking at Österreichische Galerie Belvedere: what to expect

For parking at Österreichische Galerie Belvedere, plan to use a nearby garage or Vienna’s short-stay street-parking system. The Upper and Lower Belvedere do not have an on-site visitor car park, and street parking is limited to a maximum of two hours in the standard zone.

Check which part of the museum you are visiting before choosing a space: the Upper Belvedere is on Prinz-Eugen-Straße, while the Lower Belvedere is on Rennweg. A garage is usually more practical for a full exhibition visit than moving the car after zwei Stunden.

Street parking near Österreichische Galerie Belvedere

The streets around Belvedere are within Vienna’s city-wide short-stay parking zone. On working days from 09:00 to 22:00, you need a valid parking ticket and may stay for up to zwei Stunden. A free 15-minute ticket is available, but it must still be displayed or registered correctly.

Street-parking charges are €1.30 for 30 minutes until 31 December 2025. From 1 January 2026, the rates are €1.70 for 30 minutes, €3.40 for 60 minutes, €5.10 for 90 minutes and €6.80 for the maximum zwei Stunden. Paper tickets and digital parking tickets are available.

Some designated shopping streets have different hours and a 1.5-hour maximum stay, so always follow the signs on the exact street where you leave the car.

Belvedere garages and short museum visits

The garage at Palais Schwarzenberg offers a visitor rate of €6 for up to sechs Stunden when the ticket is validated at the Upper or Lower Belvedere cash desks. This rate does not apply when a parking app is used, so retain the ticket and validate it as instructed during your visit.

QBC Parkgarage at Karl-Popper-Straße 4 charges €4 per hour, with a daily maximum of €34.90. It is better suited to drivers who need a longer stay than the two-hour street-parking limit. Mobypark currently has no bookable spaces within 3 km of Österreichische Galerie Belvedere, but drivers can check again in future if private availability is added nearby.

Full-day parking at Belvedere with P+R

For an all-day visit, a Park & Ride facility such as Erdberg or Ottakring can reduce the time spent looking for a central space. Parking costs about €4.40 per day, after which you continue to Belvedere by public transport. Allow extra time for the transfer and check the return route before leaving the car.

Choose P+R when the car will remain parked for several hours. A central garage is more convenient for a short stop, while street parking is only suitable when the zwei Stunden limit matches your plans.

Parking tickets, time limits and fines in Vienna

Set the parking start time correctly and make sure a paper ticket is clearly displayed if you use one. Exceeding the permitted time, parking without a valid ticket or displaying one incorrectly can result in an Organmandat.

A €36 parking Organmandat was commonly issued before 2026. From 1 January 2026, the fine for illegal parking is €50 in the updated schedule. From 1 January 2027, standardised penalties for exceeding the parking time or incorrectly displaying a ticket are set at €60. The exact amount depends on the offence and the date.

An Organmandat normally has to be paid within two weeks. If it is not paid, an administrative penalty procedure can follow and the final amount may be higher.
