Finding parking near Statieplein, Aarschot
If you’re looking for parking Statieplein (Aarschot station area), start with the local rules on street parking and the short-stay spaces around the station. Mobypark currently has no bookable private spots for this exact location, but you can check it for any future availability before you arrive.
Short-stay parking near the station (sensor places)
There are dedicated short-stay places for the station area (near Velo) and a few on Grote Markt where you can park for up to 30 minutes free. With these sensor spaces you don’t need a parking ticket and you don’t need a blue disc.
If you stay longer than 30 minutes, you may receive a retribution ticket of €25. A municipal parking card or a disability card is not accepted for these sensor places, so check the signs carefully before you leave the car.
Pay-and-display zone (and the free quarter-hour)
Aarschot uses a pay-and-display parking zone mainly in the centre (including the areas around Statieplein). It is in force every day between 09:00 and 18:00, except Sundays and public holidays and 11 July. Park using the machine and keep your ticket to match the posted rules.
Even inside the paid zone, there’s a free quarter-hour at any time: use the green button on the parking machine to print a free parking ticket. If you’re relying on quick drop-offs, plan around the sensor 30-minute limit first.
There’s also a limited free parking hour after school: on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday between 15:00 and 16:00, and on Wednesday between 11:30 and 12:30 (the hour when the school day ends).
Blue zone parking (parking disc required)
In the blue zone, you can park with a blue parking disc for up to 3 hours. The blue zone rules apply every day between 09:00 and 18:00, except Sundays and public holidays and 11 July. The zone covers parts of the city centre and can include areas such as Parking Centrum in the Demervallei.
In some sections (for example, the blue zone on Parking Demervallei), a resident’s card is not valid, so you still need to display a blue disc. Always read the zone boards when you park.
NMBS “B-parkings” at/near the station (barrier car parks)
Behind the station (Nieuwlandlaan) and at the front of the station (left side access via Statieplein and Leuvensesteenweg) are B-parkings. They’re barrier-controlled and owned by the NMBS, which sets the parking approach and prices.
NMBS makes these car parks free between 19:00 and 07:00. They’re also free on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, though certain major events may have exceptions—so check the signage on arrival.
Quick checklist to avoid fines on the Statieplein side
- Use the sensor 30-minute spaces only if you’re genuinely dropping off/quickly visiting—after 30 minutes the €25 retribution risk applies.
- For pay-and-display areas (09:00–18:00, except Sundays/public holidays and 11 July), buy/activate the right ticket—remember the free 15 minutes option via the green button.
- For blue zone streets, set the arrival time on your disc and don’t exceed the 3-hour limit.
- If you want a backup plan for tight timing, it’s worth checking Mobypark for any future availability around Statieplein before you park.
